The fourth Thursday in November is Thanksgiving Day. I know we don’t have the same pilgrim history as America but I still really, really, wish that we celebrated this holiday. It seems like such a beautiful idea to celebrate all the things we have to be thankful for.
I’m posting my ‘thankfuls’ a few days early in the hope that anyone who reads my blog before Thursday, also has time to pull together a list of things they are grateful for. Even if we don’t get a public holiday to spend eating turkey and pumpkin pie, we can still try and start an Australian blog trend for giving thanks. What do you say?
- I am thankful that I was blessed with a happy childhood and parents who gave my sister and I so many opportunities. Annual skiing holidays, drama classes, violin and piano lessons, horse-riding, Timestory, Antioch, Stormco, Summer Camps, Holiday Camps, Big Camps. Whatever we wanted to get involved in, they made it happen. I didn’t realise when I was a kid just how lucky I was but I sure do now.
- I am thankful for my sister. I couldn’t ask for a better sister. She always lives what she believes. She is an inspiration.
- I am thankful for my lovely Husband. He makes me ridiculously happy.
- I am thankful for all my girls – Donna, Sheela, Melly, Alissa, Kelly & Lisa. I’m not sure what I did to deserve so many wonderful friends but I am most definitely grateful for all of them.
- I am thankful for the blogosphere and all the fabulous bloggers who bring joy to my days.
- I am also thankful for Google Reader so I can read all of these blogs in an ad free, clutter free way!
- I am thankful that I’ve learned to be okay with my own weaknesses.
- I am thankful that I have a good set of values.
- I am thankful for the sound of the rain on the roof. There’s no better sound to fall asleep to.
- I am thankful for great works of fiction, beautiful pieces of art and films that leave me feeling moved.
- I am thankful for the people who accept me for who I am.
- I am thankful for laughter. There is no better feeling in the world than laughing.
- I am thankful for hope. Sometimes it’s hard to find, but it’s always there, waiting to lift me up.
- I am thankful for productivity. It feels so great to get stuff done.
- I am thankful for weekends. Ahh, to be work free for a few days. Love it!
- I am thankful for the internets. Oh, what in the world would I do without you, World Wide Web??
- I am thankful for coffee.
- I am thankful for quiet. I love a quiet house and the silence when I’m driving alone or in the shower.
- I am grateful that I’ll be able to sit back and say, ‘Life is good’ when today’s over.
- I am grateful for being me.
I love it Neen!
I will also accept your blogging challenge and work on something for this week (before Thursday)!
Im thankful for you :)
[…] year in the lead up to Thanksgiving, my friend Neen wrote this post earlier this week on things she’s thankful for. She challenged others to write their own list […]
Some lovely stuff in there! Thank you for the great post:)
Well miss neenalah, I am thankful for wildly fantastic friends (of which, you are an important one). I am glad that I have long eyelashes :) There’s lots more, but I shall have to get a blog of my own ;p
